  • Beautifully Created Birth Services always processes your placenta in the safest environment free of other food, pets and children with OSHA compliant safety measures. Proper personal protective equipment is always used during the entire process and we use mostly single-use disposable items.  Proper placenta transportation and storage is also an important part of maintaining the safety of your placenta.  Also, only one placenta is worked on at a time. This process guarantees that your placenta will never be mixed up or cross contaminated.

  • Yes, we will still come pick up your placenta even without an advance order. You are responsible for proper storage of your placenta in a container or ziplock and kept refrigerated or on ice until a pick up time is arranged. A cooler will be brought with your pickup person and processing of your placenta will be started once we receive your order form and payment.

  • Of course. How you labor or deliver, whether vaginally or by cesarean, does not make a difference in terms of your ability to have your placenta encapsulated. The only reason it is unsafe to encapsulate is if there is a medical issue that arises such as infection.

  • You can still encapsulate if you test positive for GBS or have meconium present at birth.

Testing positive for GBS is not a sign of an active infection.

Meconium is commonly present at delivery and presents no special concerns, especially since placentas are cleaned and heated to food safe temperatures.

If you or your baby develops an infection at the time of delivery or within the following 24 hours after delivery, it is important to let us know so we can determine the safest options.

  • There are two methods of which I am able to prepare your placenta for encapsulation, raw (most popular, placenta is sliced and dehydrated) and traditional (placenta is first steamed then sliced and dehydrated). Raw preparation yields more capsules than traditional prep. Traditional prep is automatically used if you test GBS positive.

  • Please ensure that your placenta is kept fresh and food safe. It can remain at room temperature for 3-4 hours following the birth. After that, it should be refrigerated or kept on ice.  Your care provider will put your placenta in a plastic container or a sealed bag.  You can prepare your placenta for transport by placing it in the placenta transport cooler with ice and keep it on ice until we pick up the placenta from you. For birth center or home birth, the placenta may be placed in the biohazard transport bag and cooler provided in your transport kit. If you have not received a transport kit, no worries, just keep your placenta refrigerated or on ice and a cooler will be brought during pickup.

Placenta pickup is usually between 9a-7p. If it is outside of those hours, we will arrange for pickup in the morning and you will keep it refrigerated or on ice until then.

  • It depends on the size of your placenta and the way it is prepared. Raw preparation yields more pills than the traditional steamed method. The size of the baby tends to correlate with the size of your placenta so smaller babies generally produce less pills. The average we cap per placenta is 90-140 capsules.

  • In the state of Texas, all hospitals are required by law to release placentas. This means that no matter where you choose to birth your baby – your placenta is yours to keep.

It is your responsibility to discuss release of your placenta from your place of birth. You may have to sign a form authorizing or requesting release of your placenta in a hospital setting. Your placenta should not be treated with alcohol, formalin or any other preservative. if it is, it is no longer eligible for encapsulation.

  • It can take up to 2-3 days to process your placenta. Once your placenta products are ready after processing, they will be delivered either by hand or via mail depending on your location. Mail delivery usually takes an extra day or two and you will be provided with a tracking number.

  • Your placenta pills may be stored in a cool, dry place for up to 5-6 weeks. After that, any remaining pills need to be double bagged and stored in the very back of the freezer for future use.

Store your tincture in a dark, cool place for at least 6 weeks. Tincture is ready to be consumed after 6 weeks.

Store your salve in a cool, dry place. Please note that natural oils may melt if kept in warmer temperatures.

No data exists about the safety of long term storage of dried placenta. Use caution when storing placenta for long periods of time.

  • You may begin taking your pills immediately. We suggest starting with 1-3 pills in the morning and 1-3 pills in the afternoon, with food.

If you feel okay: keep the dose the same. If you are still feel unbalanced: take 1-3 more pills in the evening.

When you might reduce your dose if you are sensitive to your pills or if you feel like you have too much energy and have a hard time sleeping. Try taking only 1 capsule with a full meal daily.

If you get a fever or mastitis, taper your pills to zero in one day. If you usually take 3 pills, 3 times a day you would take 3 in the morning, 2 midday and 1 in the evening. Then none the next day. Wait until the fever or mastitis go away and then resume your pills.

If you get a cold or mild illness, keep taking your pills. If your illness worsens, taper your pills as described above and wait until the illness goes away to resume your pills.

Do not take more than nine capsules in a 24 hour period. Never abruptly stop taking your pills. Always taper.

  • You may consume your tincture after 6 weeks. Tincture may be used during times of transition such as postpartum, weaning or menopause. it is not recommended to use placenta pills and tincture simultaneously.

Dosage: Begin with 7-10 drops and increase as needed.

Drops may be held under the tongue for 60 secs then swallowed or mixed in a glass of water or juice.  You may choose to follow with a chaser of some sort such as water or juice because the tincture can have an “earthy” taste to it.

Do not exceed 40 drops twice daily. If daily use, taper dosage instead of stopping abruptly.
